BIOGRAPHY

Stuart Barnes is an artist and teacher.

He spent his early childhood in towns and wilderness areas of Botswana and South Africa where he enjoyed the natural beauty and cultivated a love of the visual arts.

He is an honours graduate (BA Fine Arts, First Class) of the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, South Africa. He received the first prize for Theory of Art and a Dean’s Merit List award in his graduate year.

Stuart lived and worked in London for many years, regularly visiting galleries throughout the UK and Europe. Here he furthered his  study of the visual arts with courses and research into life drawing, animation and illustration.

He is a keen and experienced teacher of a wide range of subjects including sport, music, communication, design, programming, painting and drawing. Stuart has worked with a diversity of students of many nationalities and ages. He believes that everyone can learn to draw and paint.

As a practising artist Stuart regularly takes part in life drawing and art society events. He frequently exhibits and enters art competitions locally, nationally and internationally. Art is his passion to do, to share and to teach.
